Dear Interns, Welcome to this Internship Program!!
I’m Dr. Bushra Anwar, and I’ll be serving as your Course Director throughout this internship. Together with a dedicated team of facilitators and mentors, we are excited to have you onboard as you begin this journey in clinical and public health research.
Before diving into the details of this program and collaborative projects, please take time to familiarize yourself with this online workspace, policies and values at BMY Health, and expectations with interns and mentors. This will help you have a smoother work experience for maximizing your professional growth at BMY Health.
Please begin by reviewing the Guide for using LMS, which will help you:
- Understand how to navigate chat
- Learn how to communicate with your colleagues
- Learn how to access resources, or upload files in canvas of your groups
- Guide: Materials
You’ll find the Program Book and Schedule in the Program Book which is helpful in understanding:
- The learning outcomes of program and expectations from interns and mentors
- The structure of each module and deliverables of each week
You’ll also find the Collaboration Agreement, ERC policy, and Rules of Giving Feedback in the Course Materials, which is helpful in understanding:
- The rights and responsibilities of interns, mentors, and BMY Health in the collaboration
- Values, ethics, and policies applicable to all interns, mentors and research collaborators at BMY Health
Where to access help when needed
- Contact your Team Leader for discussion on task delegation/ informing of events delaying your assignment completion.
- Contact your Mentor for coordination on meetings and assignment reviews.
- Contact HR person when having issues with coordination with team members, or mentors, or for any administrative support, guidance on leadership, communication, team work, and managing conflicts or burn outs. HR will also help with arranging meetings with Instructor (need based tutorials for technical steps of research such as literature searching, referencing software, data analysis).
- Contact Program Director when having issues with resources of learning, intellectual support for mentors, second opinion on research scope, extension of deadlines, gaining clarity of deliverables and BMY Health policies, sharing feedback of staff, or reporting any deviation from event that may compromise research ethics.
Clinical and public health research plays a critical role in advancing evidence-based practice and addressing community health needs. Through this program, we aim not only to train you in research methodology but also to empower you to think critically, ethically, and impactfully.
